Mitchell Huxhold (Fr., Escondido, Calif., San Pasqual HS) has posted the top time in the MPSF in the 1000 freestyle (9:27.21) this season. The Roadrunners have turned in the fastest 800m freestyle relay (6:42.52) and the second quickest time in the 200 freestyle relay and the 400 freestyle relay entering the league meet.

“We are excited about the new schools in the MPSF, it makes the competition much stronger and much harder to make it into finals,” said CSUB director of swimming Chris Hanson. “We will have to swim best times in the morning to make it back at night. UNLV and BYU are top 25 teams and Hawaii and Wyoming are real strong.”

“I am excited to see our free relays,” said Hanson. “We have been strong all year and we want to get up and raise Hawaii and UNLV, two strong sprint relay teams. I think relays and diving are going to play a huge part of this years conference. We need Troy Nekalson and Colby Thompson to have the best diving meet of their lives.”

“Our stroke events have been off this year, with the lose of Chad Mckenzie, Jay Jones, and Luka Leskur,” Hanson continued. “We need to see Jake Priest, Evan Vizcarra and Peter Bardessono take their place in those events. Sprinters Chris Pipes, Mitch Wurm and Mark Sivius have a strong field of sprinters from Hawaii and BYU to race for top 8 finishes, While Distance swimmers Mitchell Huxhold, Dennis Cassidy, Gabriel Bertrand and Evan Vizcarra need to continue their domination. The top six finishes are to be determined in this championship, it could be that close!”
