The CSU Bakersfield Athletics Department has established a set of “Learning Outcomes” it hopes all Roadrunner student-athletes will achieve during their time in Bakersfield. CSUB appointed a committee of CSUB staff, coaches, faculty, and student-athletes to create four clear goals for all `Runners.

GOAL I: STUDENT-ATHLETE WILL BECOME A LIFE-LONG LEARNER
•  Objective A: The student-athlete will acquire the skills for academic excellence
•  Objective B: The student-athlete will acquire time-management skills
•  Objective C: The student-athlete will acquire the ability to communicate effectively
•  Objective D: The student-athlete will engage in career preparation, planning and exploration

GOAL II: STUDENT-ATHLETE WILL ENGAGE IN EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING ACTIVITIES
•  Objective A: The student-athlete will understand and be exposed to cultural and ethnic diversity
•  Objective B: The student-athlete will understand and appreciate national and international perspectives
•  Objective C: The student-athlete will develop and/or enhance leadership skills

GOAL III: STUDENT-ATHLETE WILL DEMONSTRATE COMPETITIVE SUCCESS
•  Objective A: The student-athlete will demonstrate an understanding of goal setting
•  Objective B: The student-athlete will demonstrate discipline and mastery of skills
•  Objective C: The student-athlete will demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively
•  Objective D: The student-athlete will apply problem solving skills in a fast-paced competitive environment

GOAL IV: STUDENT-ATHLETE WILL BECOME AN ENGAGED CITIZEN
•  Objective A: The student-athlete will understand and value character and integrity 
•  Objective B: The student-athlete will engage in activities which build citizenship and social awareness
•  Objective C: The student-athlete will observe and understand the value of networking
