BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield's track and field team gets back to work this week when the Roadrunners head to the CenCal Twilight Invitational in Clovis, Calif. The 'Runners will head north, Mar. 22, for Tuesday evening's competition.
CSUB's Director of Track and Field, Marcia Mansur-Wentworth, is sending her squad to Clovis on Tuesday with expectations of solid performances. Mansur-Wentworth listed the following student-athletes as those whom she expects to lead the way for the 'Runners:
On the men's side:
“Redshirt freshman Gabe Gaeta will take on the 400-meter hurdles, an event where he was just shy of the CSUB all-time list in his first attempt at the race. Senior Michael Lovato will race his first 800m of the season this week.”
“Sophomore Alec Benavides will compete in the javelin where he's off to a great start. Fellow sophomore Joselito Flores will contest the high jump and is off to a good start. He jumped his personal best of 6-8 last week.”
For the 'Runner women:
“Senior and team captain Tricia Cervantes will race in the 100-meter hurdles as well as compete in the high jump and long jump. Tricia had a good hurdle opener at the Bakersfield Relays. Senior Taevionna Wilson and junior Marina Emhoff will race the 200m. Marina is just off adding her name to the 200m all-time list.”
“Senior Madison Bundy will compete in the javelin where she has already made a name for herself on the all-time list in her debut. Madison threw 123-06 and is 10th all-time.”
The meet will open with the men's hammer throw and the women's javelin at 5:30 p.m. The running events will kick off at 6 p.m. with the men's and women's 200-meter dashes. The final events of the evening, the 4x100 relays, are scheduled to begin at 7:15 p.m. in Clovis. For a full schedule of events, click here. Fans can follow along with the live stats at this link.
