BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--Cal won 11 of 14 events contested as the No. 2 Bears defeated Bakersfield 140-108 in a men's swimming dual Thursday afternoon.
The Roadrunners earned victories in the final three races of the day. Louis Wojciechowski (So., La Crescenta, Calif., North Carolina State) was victorious in the 100 butterfly (:52.27). Dennis Cassidy (Jr., Whittier, Calif., La Serna HS) earned first place in the 200 IM in a time of 2:02.77.
The 200 freestyle relay of Fran Cverle (Sr. Zagreb, Croatia, Limestone College), Wojciechowski, Tomas Bruce (Sr., Brisbane/QLD, Australia, Grossmont College), and Alex Kotliarsky (R-Sr., Denver, Colo., Indiana Univ.) won the event with a time of 1:27.74.
"Jordan Singleton and Mitchell Huxhold raced and swam pretty good times for this time of the season," said Bakersfield director of swimming and diving Chris Hansen. "As a whole I thought we did ok considering the weather and this being at the end of our regular season."
The Roadrunners return to the pool Feb. 26-Mar. 1 at the WAC Championships in San Antonio, Texas.
