TURLOCK, Calif. – The Cal State Bakersfield women's basketball team scored the first eight points and never looked back in an 85–70 win over Cal State Stanislaus at Warrior Arena in Turlock Friday night.
Senior center Jessi Loring led four Roadrunners (7-4, 4-0 CCAA) in double figures with 20 points. Freshman forward Florida Siaosi added her first career double–double with a career–high 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Siaosi scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the second half. Her effort was a major factor for CSUB, which went sleepwalking through the opening minutes of the second half. Trailing 47–31 at the half, Stanislaus raced out of the second-half gate with an 11–2 run in the first three minutes to pull within seven at 49–42.
“We are having trouble finding five players who will go hard at the same time,” said CSUB Head Coach Tim La Kose. “Florida came in and gave us a spark tonight, but we need to get that kind of effort from everybody.”
Despite jumping to the early advantage, the Roadrunners didn't open their first double–digit lead until a short Kelley Tarver jumper made it 34–23 with just under six minutes remaining in the first half. CSUB closed the half on a 17–4 run to take control.
Tarver finished with 15 points while senior forward Rhonda Johnson chipped in a season–high 19.
Gwendolyn Page led Stanislaus (3-6, 0-5) with game highs of 21 points and 12 rebounds. Lysandra Williams added 19 points.
CSUB concludes its 11–game road trip Saturday at defending CCAA champion Chico State.
