Biography
Last Season: Rhonda Johnson played through a rollercoaster season in which a pair of injuries limited what was at times a dominant effort…started 15 of 21 games, scoring in double figures 14 times…saved her best for the NCAA Tournament where she averaged 22 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks per game…career highs of 26 points and 11 rebounds in the NCAA Regional semifinals vs. Chico State (3–11–06)… first 20–point game was a 22–point night against San Francisco State (1–13–06)… recorded six double–doubles as a junior…defensively, she broke the pre–2006 record with 41 blocks for the season and established a record with eight blocks in a win over Sonoma State (1–14–06). 2005: Johnson redshirted in 2005.
Santa Monica JC: Johnson earned All–Southern California juco honors for the Pirates of Santa Monica College in 2004…averaged a double–double for Santa Monica College as a sophomore with 17.3 points and 11.3 rebounds per game…finished 17th in California in scoring and 15th in rebounding…averaged 14.2 points and 10.9 rebounds (14th in the California) per game as a freshman…earned all–tourney honors at the Moorpark and Fullerton College invitationals in 2004…named both team MVP and team captain as a sophomore…career highs of 32 points and 20 rebounds.
High School: Johnson played four seasons of varsity ball at Penn Hills High School just east of Pittsburgh…was a two–time team captain for the Indians…prep career highs of 25 points and 21 rebounds…also ran track and was a member of the cheerleading and step squads at Penn Hills.
Personal: Johnson is majoring in physical education and kinesiology at CSUB…lists pageantry, modeling and photography among her hobbies…is a native of Pittsburgh, Pa.
