General Requirements
Incoming students must present an official acceptance letter to CSU Bakersfield for the upcoming term.
Current CSU Bakersfield students must present a copy of their class schedule for the upcoming term.
Two letters of recommendation are required. Letters may be submitted from a previous teacher, coach, or mentor.
All candidates must complete ARMS registration HERE prior to tryouts. This includes the CSU Bakersfield liability waiver and submission of a head shot.
Seasonal Commitment Expectations
Summer 2026
Members must adjust personal schedules to attend the following events
Official team practices: June 5th-June 7th, June 26th-June 28th , July 17th- July 19th
Summer camp August 6th-August 9th
Full summer schedule will be provided at the team meeting in May.
Fall 2026
Members are required to attend all team practices: Practice Schedule - Monday-Thursday 8:00pm-10:00pm
Additionally, attendance at selected women's and men's soccer games, home indoor volleyball and basketball games is required.
Official schedules will be shared once released by the Athletics Department. Athletes are expected to adjust personal schedules accordingly.
Winter 2026
Attendance at all home basketball games during winter break is required. Accommodations may be made with advance communication.
Spring 2027
Members are required to attend all team practices: Practice Schedule - Monday-Thursday 8:00pm-10:00pm
Attendance at team related events is required through the conclusion of basketball season, including postseason competition. Members are then expected to maintain practice attendance including competitions and community service initiatives.
Clinic and In-Person Tryout Attire
Approved clinic and tryout attire must consist of a plain white t-shirt, solid black shorts (tights are acceptable), and cheer shoes. Hair must be pulled back and accompanied by a white ribbon and makeup is expected to be minimal. Athletes deemed out of compliance with the dress code will not be allowed to try out.
Personal Interview Attire
Candidates are required to wear business casual attire for their personal interview.
Graphic t-shirts, ripped jeans, and open-toe shoes (such as flip flops, sandals, or Crocs) are not permitted.

Candidates will be required to demonstrate the following skills
A single toe touch jump
A double jump (candidates choice)
Sideline Dance... video pending
Basic stunt... video pending
Advanced stunt... video pending
In-Person Tryout Format ( Cheerleading)
Candidates will be placed into tryout groups according to the audition number assigned during the audition clinic.
Interviews will follow the conclusion of in-person tryouts and will take place prior to team announcements. Candidates are asked to change into appropriate interview attire following their group tryout and await their assigned interview time.
In-Person Tryout Format (Rowdy the Mascot)
Candidates auditioning for Rowdy the Mascot will be evaluated in the following areas: Physical appearance and presentation in the Rowdy uniform
Performance and crowd engagement during the fight song, Reactions to simulated game-day situations, and Incorporation and use of game-day props
Video Tryout Information
Video submissions will be reviewed following the conclusion of in-person tryouts. Video submissions must be received by 9:00am on Saturday, May 9th to be considered.
Video submission requirements are as follows:
No edits during skills portion.
Video break is allowed for personal introduction and interview question.
