BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP) — CSU Bakersfield Athletics will integrate Bridge, a leading strength and conditioning software platform, into its training operations beginning in 2026, a move department officials say will elevate performance standards across all athletic programs.
Bridge is widely used by high-performance organizations, including the Los Angeles Rams, Boston Celtics and Duke University, among others. The platform allows strength and conditioning staffs to design individualized training plans, monitor athlete progress in real time and adjust programming based on data-driven feedback.
For CSU Bakersfield's Spirit Squads, the addition of Bridge represents a significant step forward in aligning training with Division I performance standards.
Head Spirit Coach Arthur Smith said the investment signals a commitment to the holistic development of student-athletes.
"I'm really excited that we have made the investment into our student-athletes by bringing Bridge to the department," Smith said. "This is more than just a strength platform. I see this as a physical and mental enhancement for all of our student-athletes, but also a performance enhancement that will be seen and appreciated by all Roadrunner fans."
Smith said the platform will allow for greater accountability, structured progression and measurable results — key components as programs prepare for upcoming seasons.
Bridge provides tools to track workload, recovery and performance benchmarks, helping reduce injury risk while maximizing output. Coaches can communicate directly with athletes through the system, ensuring consistent expectations and feedback.
Head Dance Coach Courtland Witt said the technology will support athlete growth both individually and collectively.
"I'm excited to have the ability to track, make adjustments and encourage our athletes along their fitness journey, all for the betterment of the program," Witt said.
Athletics officials believe the integration of Bridge will not only strengthen training infrastructure but also reinforce a culture of development and excellence within the department.
CSU Bakersfield Spirit Squads aim to launch Bridge in the summer of 2026, positioning Roadrunner Spirit for a new era of competitive preparation.
