BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP) — The CSU Bakersfield Spirit Squad will hold tryouts for the 2026–27 season this May, with a pre-tryout clinic and in-person auditions scheduled inside the Icardo Center Sports Complex.

A pre-tryout clinic for all interested athletes will take place on Friday, May 8, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The clinic will provide participants an opportunity to review posted tryout materials, including the fight song, jumps, tumbling, and stunting requirements.

In-person tryouts for the Cheerleading and Mascot teams will be held on Saturday, May 9, at 9:00 a.m. (doors open at 8:00 a.m.) inside the Icardo Center Sports Complex.

In-person Dance Team auditions will immediately follow, with an estimated start time of 11:00 a.m.

Team selections will be announced the afternoon of Saturday, May 9. Selected team members will be required to attend an official team meeting (in person or via Zoom). The meeting time will be shared at the time of team announcement.

Seasonal Commitment Expectations

Summer 2026
Members must adjust personal schedules to attend official team practices, summer camp, and additional team-related activities. The full summer schedule will be provided at the team meeting in May. 

Fall 2026
Members are required to attend selected women's and men's soccer games, along with all home indoor volleyball and basketball games. Official schedules will be shared once released by the CSUB Athletics Department.

Winter 2026
Attendance at all home basketball games during winter break is required. Accommodations may be made with advance communication.

Spring 2027
Attendance requirements continue through the conclusion of basketball season, including postseason competition. Members are also expected to maintain practice attendance and participate in additional team events, including competitions and community service initiatives.
