BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The CSUB Cheer and Dance team hosted its annual Kids Clinic on Saturday, drawing over 30 enthusiastic youngsters from across Kern County. Children aged 8-11 gathered on the main campus for a two hour clinic ahead of the CSUB Women's Volleyball game.
Attendees learned the ins and outs of cheer and dance from current members on the spirit squads. The Kids Clinic offered a comprehensive experience, teaching attendees chants, dances, jumps and stunts. Participants also mastered mini-routines to showcase during the women's volleyball game later that day. Following the afternoon clinic, participants cheered on the Roadrunners volleyball team from the stands as they took on CSU Fullerton inside the Icardo Center in exciting Big West Conference action.
Clinic attendees stole the show during timeouts by entertaining the crowd with their newfound skills. The highlight came at halftime when they performed an exciting routine for the entertainment of the fans. "It was awesome to see the kids' confidence grow throughout the clinic and for that to show in front of the crowd tonight made it special," said CSUB Cheer coach,
Arthur Smith. "Their energy and enthusiasm was contagious, and they added to the already electric atmosphere we had tonight as we welcomed back our 2014 WAC Tournament Championship team on alumni night."
The annual Kids Clinic has become a beloved tradition, fostering community engagement and introducing local youth to the spirit of CSUB athletics.
