Pomona, CA- Joined by thirteen other Division One Universities, the CSUB spirit squads attend the 2022 UCA/UDA summer team camp in sunny Pomona, CA. This four-day training camp took place at the Sheraton Hotel Fairplex & Conference Center.
Day one included an evaluation of the CSUB fight song by UCA/UDA staff, where they provided feedback in the areas of: motion timing, stunts, jumps and overall entertainment value. The cheerleading team also attended a stunting class, where they learned new skills and worked on perfecting skills already obtained. Additionally, the dance team attended a Gameday prep class, where they learned sideline dances to perform at upcoming CSUB sporting events.
The next two days brought with them more evaluations for both the cheerleading and dance teams. Evaluations included: Sideline Chant (cheer), Performance routine (Dance) and Gameday routine (both teams). The Gameday routine is the combination routine that allows for the cheerleading and dance team to perform alongside each other.
Additionally, the cheerleading team attended classes on Gameday pyramid, basket tosses and sideline chants. Dance team attended an expert's class and learned three additional team dances covering the areas of jazz, pom, and hip hop.
The fourth day provided a final round of evaluations for dance and a divisional competition for cheer. The CSUB spirit squads return to campus having received all superior ranking's during their evaluations and a program improvement award.
