Bakersfield, CA- The CSU Bakersfield Spirit Program and Athletic Department are in search of motivated, energetic, and dedicated individuals to portray Rowdy the mascot.

Beginning in 1970, Rowdy the Roadrunner was presented to CSU Bakersfield student body along with thirty-three other mascots for consideration to be adopted as the official University mascot. Results from a student body campus wide vote were a resounding 368 to 15 in favor of Rowdy the Roadrunner. Since then, Rowdy has a been a staple at al sporting events and in throughout the city of Bakersfield at many grand opening's and other special events. 

In 2016 during the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament (as known as March Madness) Rowdy was voted the #1 Mascot in the field of 64 teams. Coverage of this award was mentioned on local/TV shows such as: KGET-17 Bakersfield and 23ABC Bakersfield. Rowdy also made an appearance on national television when he was a guest star on Good Morning America during the 2017 NIT Men's Basketball tournament final four held in New York City. 

Today, Rowdy can be found on campus at new student orientations, pep rallies and welcoming special guests to campus during visit or special events. Around town Rowdy can be found participating in holiday parades, senior living facilities and at local schools during the "Read Across America" Day.

Beyond the perks of being a member of the rich tradition that is Rowdy the mascot, selected members are subject to sponsored apparel, paid travel expenses to and from special events and tournaments, meal per diem and for CSU Bakersfield students a $1,000 stipend applied to their student account.
