Bakersfield, Calif.  The inaugural Lloyd Norwood Spirit Award was presented during the CSU Bakersfield Men's Basketball game on March 5th, 2022 vs UC Irvine. 

Mr. Norwood began his career at CSU Bakersfield in 2009 as a member of the Campus Dining Services Staff. An avid sports fan, Mr. Norwood became a fixture at home sporting events as he was regularly seen cheering on his favorite team, the Roadrunners. 

Always armed with his infectious smiles and Roadrunner spirit, Mr. Norwood affected many lives in a positive manner during his time at CSU Bakersfield. Mr. Norwood passed away in the spring of 2021 but not before leaving a last mark on teh university and the athletics department. 

In his honor, CSU Bakersfield created and will annually award the Lloyd Norwood Spirit award to a member of the Big Blue Rowdy crew,for whom he enjoyed listening to while attending many Roadrunner home games. 

The Lloyd Norwood Spirit award winner for 2022 was Aaron Bounthong, a senior member of the Big Blue Rowdy Crew majoring in Psychology.
