Track & Field at Franson Invitational Saturday

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield's men and women's track & field teams are ready for another outdoor meet heading to the Franson Invitational Saturday hosted by Azusa Pacific University. The Roadrunners look to reach new heights against a diverse pool of competition at APU.

CSUB will join around 10 schools this weekend including, Pacific, Montanta State, Cal State LA, and Big West foe CSUN.
The women are led by Miranda Miller, who has won three-straight in pole vault, and will compete in that event on Saturday. Julianne Finch finished tied for second last week and joins Miller in vault at in Azusa.

Riley Slayton will compete in the 400-meter hurdles where she posted her best time in two years last weekend placing third at Cal State Fullerton. Julia Stein was right behind Slayton tallying the seventh best program time all-time.

The pair will be joined by Jaztyn Greer who posted a time good enough for 19th all-time in CSUB history in the 100mH last week. All three will contest both the 100mH and 400mH races and race in the 1600m relay.

Mariah Lesure was fourth last week in Fullerton and second at the Beach Opener held March 4-5 in the 100m. She will race that event and the 200m this week in the Franson Invitational.

The men's team is led by Curtis Threlkeld will compete in the 800m and 1500m distances this weekend. Threlkeld, who is a two-time WAC 800m champion, currently leads the Big West in the event.

Tom Richardson and Matthew Garrett will throw shot put on Saturday coming off personal bests last week where they placed fourth and fifth, respectively.

Bradley Bryant will see both the long and triple jump events in Azusa Saturday. He was runner-up in triple at the Ben Brown Invitational a week ago. Jesus Alverez will compete in high jump and join Bentley in long jump at APU.

"We look to improve upon finishes and keep sharpening up for the Big West Championship in May," Director of Track & Field, Cross Country reiterated.
