Biography
2022-2023 (R-SENIOR): Indoor - Competed in four meets...Ran a personal best time of 9.42 in the 60 meter hurdles at the Friday Night Kick Axe Open. Outdoor - Clocked in multiple personal bests throughout her final season as a Roadrunner...Ran the 13th fastest time in program history in the 800 meters with a time of 2:16.10...Became just the second Bakersfield athlete in history to run sub-60 in the 400 meter hurdles...Was the 2023 runner-up finisher at the Big West championships in the 400 meter hurdles.Â
2021-2022 (R-JUNIOR): Represented the Roadrunners in twelve meets during the season...Earned a personal best in the 400 meters with a time of 58.25 at the Cal Poly Invitational...Was the runner-up finisher in the 400 meter hurdles at the Big West Track and Field Championships.
2021 (R-SOPHOMORE): Appeared in just six meets on the year...Posted a personal best 100H time of 18.48 in her first meet back at Cal Poly...Ran a PR time of 13.59 in the 100m at the CSUN Red and Black Invite...Earned a 1st place finish in the 400H at CSUN...Tallied five Top 10 finishes on the season...Interned with Bratcher Home & Design in the offseason.
2020 (REDSHIRT): Outdoor season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic...Broke CSUB indoor 600m record twice.
2019 (FRESHMAN): Saw action in 13 meets between indoor and outdoor seasons...Slayton's best 300-meter time was 43.23...She posted a personal-best in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.01...Had a season-best effort in the 400-meter (58.78) to close out the indoor season...In the 200-meter she ran 27.67 at the Ben Brown Invitational then set a personal record in the 400-meter hurdles (1:02.32) the following week...Totaled four Top 3 finishes in her rookie campaign...Earned a second-team all-conference nod at WAC Outdoor Championships in the 400-meter hurdles...Trained all off season.
HIGH SCHOOL: An 2018 graduate of Liberty High School...coach was Ryan Renz...named track and field Rookie of the Year and All-Area honorable mention as a freshman (2015)...tabbed her second All-Area honorable mention as a junior (2017)...as a senior she garnered many awards; the Patriot Award, the Jim Tyack Award, and the Liberty High School Senior Female Athlete of the Year Award...She finished the season on the All-Area second team...Won four-straight league championships...was the central section track and field runner-up last season...Posted five top three individual finishes last season...Produced a personal-best time of 45.44 in the 300-meter hurdles...Helped 4x1 and 4x4 relays place top five nine times last year...Was a Hugh O'brien Youth Foundation nominee (2016)...Earned the 63rd Team City Government Day Optimist Outstanding Leadership Award (2017)...For her commitment in the classroom and community, she was given her school's Top Ten Award and Outstanding Leadership and Service Award...Also played soccer...back-to-back league champions (2017 and 2018)...Named to All-League first team and the All-Area second team in 2018...Played travel ball for Bakersfield Runner's United (2008-2017).  PERSONAL: Major is Business, minor is Marketing and Design...plans to get into business/design after graduation...Aunt Jessica Slayton played volleyball for CSUB (2000-2004).
