Roadrunners Return to NAU for Ron Mann Classic

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The CSU Bakersfield women's track and field team close their indoor season returning to Northern Arizona University on Friday for the Ron Mann Classic. Field events begin with weight throw, pole vault, and long jump at 11 a.m. PT and running events start with 400 meters at 11:45 a.m.

The meet has over 10 teams entered including host NAU, GCU, Dixie State, Southern Utah, Arizona, and Big West Conference foe UC Riverside.

"This will be our final event of the 2022 indoor season," said Director of Track & Field, Cross Country, Marcia Mansur-Wentworth, "and we're looking to improve upon some success early on and continue to measure the fitness of the team while building towards a competitive outdoor season."

Miranda Miller has been competing at a very high level so far, this indoor season. She opened the year clearing 4.0m (13'1.5"), a school indoor record, before eclipsing 3.98m (13'.5") at the UNM Team open a week ago. Mansur-Wentworth describes her consistency and work ethic as "very impressive" adding that "she definitely sets the tone for the team."

Miller will be joined in vault by classmates, Kassidy Neptune – who is coming off a season best last week - and Alexa Schacher.

Jessi Solis and Madison King both set personal bests last weekend in the weight throw and will be joined this week in the event by Kayla Prince.

Julia Stein is coming off a pair of season bests in the 60m Hurdles and 400m. She will race in both running events this Friday.

Nerissa Thompson set a personal record in the 60m dash at the UNM Team Open last week. She will compete in the 60m and 200m dashes and will be joined by Jordan Retzloff and Jahnyl Donaldson-Howden in both events.
