Throwers, Pole Vaulters at LBSU Team Competition

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Most of CSU Bakersfield men and women's outdoor track and field have sights on the Big West Championships next month, but for a small group of field athletes one more meet awaits. The Roadrunners take six throwers and three pole vaulters to the LBSU Team Competition, a field events only competition this Friday and Saturday.

FRIDAY

CSUB is led in hammer throw this season by Hugo Santana. He has won three meets this spring and is currently ranked fourth in conference. Caleb Melson joins Santana in the ring on Friday.

Corbin Chronister has struggled at times this year but was an NCAA qualifier in the hammer and discus in 2019. Chronister will throw in both events this weekend.

Tom Richardson will throw hammer and shot put.

Richardson will also throw shot put and Corbin will compete in the discus

Bakersfield men are joined by teammates Kayla Prince and Jessi Solis who have both thrown personal bests in hammer this spring.

SATURDAY

CSUB women's pole vaulters will compete in the jump portion of the meet on Saturday.

Miranda Miller has broken the school record twice this season and is currently tied third in pole vault league standings.

Julianne Finch and Kassidy Neptune look to improve on their marks this weekend. Neptune jumped a personal best this spring and is ranked fourth on the program's all-time Top 20 list.

Director of Track & Field, Cross Country Marcia Mansur-Wentworth noted, "All of our other athletes will use these weeks for final tune-ups, rehab, and prep work for the Big West Championships in a week and a half at UC Irvine."
