• CSUB will compete in three games over two days of action, including a doubleheader on Saturday.  
• The `Runners and Mustangs have a storied rivalry that dates all the way back to 1985 and their days in the CCAA. 
  • Cal Poly holds a one-game lead in the all-time series (42-41) that has seen 83 games played previously. 
• Despite the relatively even series all-time, the Mustangs have dominated the matchup since Bakersfield joined The Big West (2021), posting a 9-1 record in that span. 
• Last year against Cal Poly, the `Runners dropped the first two games of the series before winning the series finale with an 11-2, run-rule victory (5 inn.).

  • The `Runners dropped both games against the Trailblazers in that tournament, including a 10-8 slugfest. 
• Including one game in 2025, the first-ever meeting, the Trailblazers are 3-0 all-time against the `Runners.

• The Cal State Bakersfield beach volleyball team hits the road again for the Islander Classic in Texas. 
• Led by third-year Head Coach Andy Fulenwider, the 2026 edition of the Roadrunners features 11 returners and 7 newcomers. 
• Vivi Kaelin, Ella Ensign, and Katey Milne bring the most experience back in the solid group of veteran `Runners. 
  • Among several other newcomers, Fulenwider welcomed to the squad Kendall Kaelin, a graduate transfer who is the older sister of Vivi Kaelin. The siblings have paired together all season. 
• Cal State Bakersfield is set to play four games across two days of action this weekend. 

CSUB at Islander Classic 

• The `Runners hit the road for Texas A&M – Corpus Christi’s tournament: 
  • Apr. 3-4 
  • Corpus Christi, Texas Water's Edge Park 
• CSUB will contest one match each against tournament host TAMUCC, Pepperdine, ULM, and Tarleton State. 
  • The only one of these teams CSUB has already played this year is Pepperdine. The `Runners dropped a pair of games against the Waves at their own Malibu Invite earlier this month. 
  • CSUB has never faced off against TAMUCC nor ULM. 
  • The `Runners met Tarleton State for the first time in 2025, taking a 3-2 win. 
• CSUB’s one match against TAMUCC will be streamed live on ESPN+ while live stats will be available for all four matches.

• The Cal State Bakersfield track and field program will be at three different meets this week as they head into April competition.  
• Roadrunners will be represented at the San Diego Triton Invite, Moorpark Invite, and the Stanford Invite.  
• CSUB has 14 regular-season outdoor competitions on the schedule.   
  • The Big West Track and Field Championships will take place May 15-16.   
• Newcomer Francisco Felix Jr holds the school record in the men’s 3,000m and is second all-time in the men’s 5,000m.  
• The women’s 4x100m relay team is second on the CSUB all-time list after running a 45.44. 
• Senior Javier Toro and Sophomore Makiah Parker are two returners who qualified for the NCAA West First Round’s last year.   
• Bakersfield has twelve athletes qualify for the Big West Championships in May including the reigning Big West champion in the 200m and runner-up in the 100m, Makiah Parker.   

CSUB at UCSD Triton Invite - Apr. 3-4 

• A squad of sprinters will look to make some noise in SoCal at the Triton Invite. 
• Makiah Parker will lead a group of sprinters in the 100m and 200m. Joining her are teammates Rionna Wallace, Amiera Hollis, Teague Marzetta, and Chizi Okey-Dike. All women have hit personal bests or close to them this season.  
• The squad will also race in the 4x100m relay. 
• Adeline Rangel and Julie Johnson will both represent CSUB in the women’s 400m. 
• In the hurdles, Ivy Miller will toe the line in the 400mH. While Emilia Mandela will be in the short hurdles. 
• The duo Skye Odom and Ethan Lavina will take part in both horizontal jumps.  
• Bakersfield will have Francisco Felix in the men’s 5,000m. Just two weeks ago, Felix became the second fastest 5k runner in program history.  

CSUB at Moorpark Invite - Apr. 3 

• Coach Al Collatz will take the throwers to the Moorpark Invite on Friday.  
• The hammer throwers are coming off a 1-2-3 sweep at the West Coast Relays. Led by Senior Javier Toro, he matched his lifetime best in the event with a massive throw of 212’10”.  
• Joining him will be Adam Torres, Daniel Hartman, and Tyler Balgeman. 
• Toro, Balgeman, and Torres will compete in the shot put. 
• Balgeman will take on his third event in the discus throw. 
• On the women’s side, Grace Padron will be joined by Freshman Annie Amneus in the hammer throw. Amneus will also take part in the discus.  

CSUB at Stanford Invite - Apr. 4 

• Jacob Yagers is coming off a 3.45.89 victory in the men’s 1,500m. He looks continue his momentum. He will be the lone CSUB athlete at the Stanford Invite. The Bakersfield native holds the school record in the event in which he broke a year ago.
