CSUB Continues To Drop Times on Day 2 Of UNLV Invitational

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – CSU Bakersfield's men's swimming team kicked off their second day at the UNLV Invitational Friday with another impressive finish for the night. This is the first time the Roadrunners are competing in the invitational hosted by UNLV, which features some of the top swimming teams on the West Coast.

"Lovre, Justice, Mario and Benji were all impressive tonight in the 400 IM. All four men dropped times tonight," said Chris Hansen, Director of CSUB Swim and Dive. Lovre Soric, Justice Kramer, Mario Vasquez, and Benji Duenas all qualified for a spot in a final race in the 400 IM. All four were able to cut their morning's times by at least two seconds or more and freshman Duenas had a personal best.

Other events that took place today were the 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breast and 100 back and at least two Roadrunners were represented in each event. "Both Jake and Greg are looking strong in the 100 Breast. Freshman Ethan Trieu has been having some tough swims but got out of the hump with tonight's 100 Back. He will be swimming this event in Ohio and will be ready to go," said Hansen.

Freshman Kristofer Rogic continued to standout today in the 100 back and cut his time in the finals from the preliminaries. Last night Rogic set the CSUB Division school record for the 100 back in the 400 medley and came close to beating his personal best again by .33. He also competed in the 800 free relay about 30 minutes later led off with his best time of 1:41.75.

CSU Bakersfield and the rest of the highly-competitive field will return to action Saturday morning, the final day of the UNLV Invitational. Prelims will begin in the morning at 9:30 a.m. and finals for the day to commence at 4 p.m.
