BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Five Roadrunners earned victories in their events for the CSU Bakersfield track and field team on Saturday at the BC Relays. Leading the way were sophomore Joselito Flores, junior Alisha Byrd, and sophomore Angel Valdez.

Flores, a native of Fairfield, Calif., tied his personal best in the high jump with a mark of six feet, eight inches. The 6-foot-3 sophomore cleared the jump on his way to a win in the event on Saturday. Similarly, Byrd, a junior from Victorville, Calif. took first in the triple jump with a personal best mark.

Valdez, a Bakersfield native, won the 5000 with a time of 19:17.39, lowering her PR in the event by over a minute. The sophomore's time was also good enough for 17th all-time for the Roadrunners.

Redshirt freshman Gabe Gaeta impressed in the 400-meter hurdles at Bakersfield College. The Bakersfield native and graduate of Frontier High School posted a time of 55.91 in the 400-meter hurdles. Gaeta won the event by over two seconds and is now only a tenth of a second out of the CSUB Top 20 all-time in the event.

Rounding out the top 'Runner performers was senior Tricia Cervantes, who won the women's 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.26. Despite running into a headwind, CSUB's captain earned the victory while lowering CSUB's best time in the event this season by almost a full second.

CSUB will be back in action Tuesday, Mar. 22, when the 'Runners take part in the CenCal Twilight Invitational in Clovis, Calif.
