MOSCOW, Id.- The CSUB Roadrunners look for their first road win of the season on Wednesday as they travel to the University of Idaho for their second meeting with the Vandals this season.
The Roadrunners (3-2) are hoping they can duplicate the first meeting with Idaho where the 'Runners led wire-to-wire while building a 26-point lead in what turned out to be a 68-45 win at the Icardo Center. The Vandals (4-3) picked up a pair of wins since last meeting the 'Runners but have lost their last two as well, most recently 66-59 to Northern Illinois in Moscow. Idaho went 2-1 at the North Texas Tournament last week.
The Roadrunners are coming off a 94-59 loss at Saint Mary's and are 0-2 this season on the road. CSUB will conclude their road trip in Idaho before returning home on Saturday hosting Northern Arizona.
In the first meeting with the Vandals, Aly Ahmed led the way for CSUB with 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting while redshirt freshman Damiyne Durham added 16 points, including five three-pointers in the win. CSUB forced 20 Idaho turnovers in the game as well.
Durham enters Wednesday's game leading the 'Runners with 17 points per game while shooting 43% from both the field and three-point range. Kevin Mays is adding 15 points per contest and leading the team with nine rebounds per game. Mays scored seven points along with grabbing seven rebounds in the first victory over Idaho.
The Vandals were held to just 30% shooting in the first matchup and are led by sophomore guard Victor Sanders who is averaging 14 ppg. He scored 10 against the Roadrunners on November 17, the only Vandal to score in double digits.
This is the sixth meeting between CSUB and Idaho with the Vandals holding a 3-2 series lead but CSUB has won each of the last two meetings, both of which were in Bakersfield.
Wednesday's game can be heard live on Newstalk 1180 & 96.1 FM KERN beginning at 7:30 P.M. with pregame coverage. Tip off is scheduled for 8 P.M.
