BAKERSFIELD, Calif.- The CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners will look for their first 3-0 start in a decade as they host Fresno Pacific on Friday afternoon as part of the team's first “Education Day.”
As part of the promotion, over 1,000 local elementary school children will be in attendance watching the Roadrunners during the special Noon tipoff at the Icardo Center. The 'Runners are 2-0 following a 68-45 win over Idaho on Saturday night. Fresno Pacific is 1-1 on the season and is coming off a 76-46 exhibition loss to defending Big West Champion UC Davis on Wednesday night. As an NCAA Division II program, the Sunbirds are counting both their UC Davis contest and Friday's matchup with the Roadrunners as an exhibition; the game will count as normal for the Roadrunners.
CSUB's lopsided win on Saturday night over Idaho was led by Aly Ahmed's 18 points which included 7-11 from the field. Ahmed was joined by 16 points from redshirt freshman Damiyne Durham's 16 points in the win. Durham enters Friday's game averaging 20.5 points per game for the Roadrunners.
Fresno Pacific's exhibition loss to UC Davis on Wednesday included 10-point performances from Roger Paul and Spencer Krannitz. The Sunbirds led briefly with just over 13 minutes to play in the first half before UC Davis rolled off a 20-4 run to take the lead for good in the win.
