DAYTON, Ohio—Bakersfield lost two matches on the final day of the Flyer-Raider Invitational.

No. 12 Nebraska defeated the Roadrunners 3-1 in Saturday's first match. The 'Runners led Nebraska 8-6 in the first set, but the Huskers would use an 11-2 run to go onto a 25-16 victory in the opener. Nebraska defeated CSUB 25-8 in the second set.

The Roadrunners steadied themselves at halftime, coming out to defeat the Huskers 25-22 in set three.  Bakersfield opened the fourth set by taking an 8-5 lead and soon pushed the advantage to 12-8. The Huskers would go up 15-14 before the teams became tied at 15, 16, 17, and 18. Nebraska took the lead for good at 19-18 and earned a 25-19 final set triumph.

Poor hitting continued to plague the 'Runners. As for the third straight match, the 'Runners were held to under .200 for the match as a team (.056, compared to .313 for Nebraska). Molly O'Hagan (Sr., Tonganoxie, Kan., Tonganoxie HS) led Bakersfield with 11 kills. Luiza Martins (Jr., Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Western Nebraska CC) recorded 35 assists while Mariah Alvidrez (R-Sr., Bakersfield, Calif., Liberty HS) had 26 digs.

The Roadrunners took on the host, Dayton, in Saturday's tournament finale. In a first set that featured 19 ties, the Flyers came away with a 30-28 victory over CSUB. Bakersfield took advantage of eight Dayton hitting errors in the second set and tied the match at one with a 25-14 conquest. Set three saw the teams tie one another nine times, with Dayton taking a 25-22 decision.  Dayton won the fourth set 25-21 and earned the 3-1 match victory.

O'Hagan reset her career high with 21 kills. The 5-11 middle blocker finished the night with an .645 average (21-1-31), a new Division I school record for hitting percentage in a four-set match.

Kelsee Sawyer (Jr., Temecula, Calif., Great Oak HS) charted 18 kills while Danika Youngblood (Sr., Salt Lake City, Utah, Western Nebraska CC) recorded a career high 13 kills. Martins posted 51 assists.  Alvidrez had 19 digs while Eryn Riley (Sr., Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., Los Osos HS) added 11 digs.

Bakersfield (2-5) returns to the court next weekend at the Cal Poly ShareSLO Tournament.
