CLAREMONT, Calif. - Ten different
athletes earned top 10 finishes Saturday for the CSUB men's and
women's track team at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational in Claremont,
Calif.
Top performances for the Roadrunners
included personal best marks by freshman Cameron Jost and junior
Steve Trojanowski. With a 49.29 time in the 400 meter dash, Jost
earned a sixth place finish while Trojanowski's PR mark of 183-03 in
the hammer throw was good for fifth place.
Trojanowski also earned a top 10 finish
in the javelin, placing eighth with a mark of 156-05. Teammate Brian
Lopez placed second in the event with a 185-10 mark, roughly three
feet off his season-best. In other men's field events, freshman Derek
Johnson used a mark of 172-0 to place eighth in the discus, while
Bryan Romero was 10th in the hammer throw (154-01).
In the men's long jump, freshman Ryan
Nichols earned a fifth place finish with a 22-00.75 jump. Nichols,
along with Jost, Daniel Hernandez and Brandon Washington, also placed
third in the 4x400 meter relay, turning in a time of 3:23.53.
For the Roadrunner women, high jumpers
Ke'Airra Jones and Peace Nwosu placed second and fourth,
respectively, with top marks of 5-6 for Jones and 5-4.25 for Nwosu.
On the track, freshman Jenah Kincaid had a pair of solid runs with a
time of 17.00 in the 100 meter hurdles and 1:11.08 in the 400 meter
hurdles.
Next up for Bakersfield is a trip to
Westwood, Calif., for the UCLA Rafer Johnson/Jackie
Joyner-Kersee Invitational April 10-12.
