BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The CSU Bakersfield Spirit Squads welcomed young Roadrunner fans to campus Friday evening for their first Kids Spirit Clinic of the season inside the Physical Education Building. Clinic participants ranging from kindergarten through fifth grade were greeted upon arrival by members of the CSUB cheer and dance teams, who welcomed campers with spirit and smiles.

Following a brief welcome from CSU Bakersfield Head Cheer Coach Arthur Smith and Head Dance Coach Courtland Witt, campers stretched alongside members of the Spirit Squads before being divided into two groups to then work with members of teh cheer and dance teams.

Throughout the clinic, participants rotated between the cheer and dance teams, learning age-appropriate cheers, chants and dance material while getting an up-close look at what it means to be a member of the CSU Bakersfield Spirit Squads. The 90-minute clinic focused on creating a fun and welcoming environment while giving the young Roadrunner fans an opportunity to learn directly from current spirit squad members. 

The evening ended with a special appearance from Rowdy, who greeted campers and helped handout special gifts to each participant. Campers received a CSUB cup, scarf and a mini Rowdy bobble head to remember their clinic experience. Before leaving, each camper also had an opportunity to take a photo with Rowdy, providing one final lasting memory from this year's Kids Spirit Clinic.

The CSU Bakersfield Spirit Squads look forward to continuing to provide opportunities for Roadrunner fans to engage with the program and experience the energy and traditions that are CSUB Athletics.
