Cheer Closes Season with Strong Showing at PPAACC Finals

Roadrunners shine at North High, eye April 18 recruitment clinic

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP) — The 2025-2026 cheer team capped off their season with a strong and spirited performance Saturday morning at the PPAACC Finals held at North High School.

Throughout a season that required adjustments along the way, the Roadrunners remained true to the blue and gold, consistently representing the program with pride, energy and professionalism at every opportunity. That commitment was on full display during their finals routine, as the team delivered a confident performance to close out the year.

The 2026 PPAACC season featured a wide range of talented teams from across Kern County, spanning all-star mini divisions to collegiate, creating an energetic atmosphere every show.

"I was pleased with the performance today but more so just the way this group of young women handled themselves all season long," said head coach Arthur Smith. "With the hand they were dealt, it could have been easy to mail it in, but they didn't, so I'm proud of them for that and what they showcased today more than anything."

CSU Bakersfield's ability to stay unified and focused throughout the season was reflected in their performance at finals, highlighting both their growth this season and the culture they built as a team to finish everything they started.

The Roadrunners now turn their attention to the future, with a recruitment clinic scheduled for Saturday, April 18 at 11:00am as preparations begin for the 2026–27 season. Interested athletes can sign up at www.gorunners.com/camps.
