BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The CSUB Spirit Program hosted its annual year-end awards banquet Friday night inside the Kegley Center for Student Success, bringing together members from cheer and dance, along with coaches to celebrate the 2025–26 season.
The evening began with a team dinner before transitioning into seasonal remarks from Head Dance Coach Courtland Witt and Head Cheer Coach Arthur Smith, who reflected on key moments and milestones from the year.
Following opening remarks by the coaches, the coaching staff recognized the program's academic and community achievements. Fourteen student-athletes were honored as members of the All-Academic Team, while two individuals were recognized as the top Community Service contributors for their respective teams, along with a host of other awards.
The program then announced its team-voted awards:
- Newcomer of the Year
- Most Improved Award
- Leadership Award
- Most Valuable Player (MVP)
The evening also featured the introduction of a new honor, the Blue and Gold Award, presented to two members of the dance team this year. The award recognizes individuals who exemplify the true Roadrunner spirit beyond athletic performance, taking into account academic achievement, commitment to teammates and coaches, community service involvement and overall impact on the program.
Following the awards presentation, seniors from both teams were given the opportunity to share final reflections on their time in the program. Sharing highlights during their time at CSUB, including challenges they overcame, memorable moments and their outlook as they prepare for the next chapter beyond CSUB.
As the 2025–26 season comes to a close, attention now turns to the future and preparing for the 2026–27 season.
