Pitalo Promotes Navarro to Associate Head Coach

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – After years of dedication and commitment to the Cal State Bakersfield women's soccer program, Martin Navarro Jr. has been rewarded for his impact and leadership. CSUB Head Coach Whitney Pitalo has announced that Navarro has been promoted to Associate Head Coach of the Roadrunners.

"Martin's promotion to Associate Head Coach is incredibly well deserved," Pitalo said. "His leadership, work ethic, and positive impact on our players and staff have been invaluable to our program. I'm excited to continue building together as he steps into this expanded role."

Navarro has been a key member of the CSUB coaching staff, playing an important role in the growth and development of the program while helping foster a positive, competitive environment for student-athletes. His commitment to excellence on and off the field has been instrumental in moving the program forward.

Navarro entered his fourth season with the Cal State Bakersfield women's soccer program in Fall 2025 after joining the staff in 2022 and earning promotions to Assistant Coach in 2023 and lead recruiter in 2024. He helped guide the `Runners to their first Division I Big West Championship Match in 2024 and has contributed to 17 All-Conference selections and 39 Academic All-Conference honorees during his tenure.

A Bakersfield native and CSUB alumnus, Navarro boasts nearly a decade of coaching experience at the club and high school levels and holds a US Soccer C License along with multiple coaching certifications.

"First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude to Whitney Pitalo and Sarah Tuohy for this incredible opportunity," Navarro said. "It has been an honor to be a part of elevating this program these past years. I also want to thank all the former and current players, as your commitment to the program and city of Bakersfield have meant everything. I'm excited to continue investing in our student-athletes and helping push this program forward as we pursue excellence on and off the field."

As Associate Head Coach, Navarro will continue to contribute to all facets of the program while taking on an expanded leadership role as the `Runners look ahead to continued growth and success. His passion for the program and dedication to student-athlete development remain central to the CSUB's vision for the future.
