Whitney Pitalo enters her first season as the Head Coach of the Cal State Bakersfield women’s soccer team in Fall of 2025. Pitalo was hired in the spring of 2025 as the seventh Head Coach in the history of CSUB Women’s Soccer.
Pitalo brings extensive coaching experience at multiple collegiate levels, most recently serving as the First Assistant Coach at Boston College. While with the Eagles, she helped guide the team to a 12-5-2 record and their best Atlantic Coast Conference finish since 2018. Prior to her time at Boston College, Pitalo was part of the West Coast Conference Champion staff at Gonzaga University, which earned West Region Staff of the Year honors in 2023.
A former standout student-athlete, Pitalo played collegiately at the University of Southern California, serving as team captain from 2014 to 2016. She was also named PAC-12 Defensive Player of the Week in 2014, showcasing her leadership and defensive prowess.
Pitalo also boasts head coaching experience from Corban University, where she led the Warriors to a record-setting defensive season in 2022. Additionally, she served as the Head Coach at West Salem High School, earning OSAA 6A Coach of the Year honors after guiding the team to a state semifinal appearance.
Pitalo holds a U.S. Soccer B License and will be pursuing her A License. She earned her MBA from Willamette University and holds a bachelor’s degree in NGOs and Social Change with a minor in Social Entrepreneurship from USC.
