Bakersfield took an early, 1-0 lead in the 18th minute on a goal by defender Josh Farrell, his first of the season. Farrell bodied home a corner kick served in from CSUB set piece specialist Filip Arras. The two teams headed to the locker room with the same score, but the final 45 minutes had plenty of action to come for the fans.
UC Davis earned a penalty kick opportunity in the 62nd minute and buried the shot to tie the score, 1-1. Less than four minutes later, Bakersfield answered with another go-ahead goal that seemed nearly identical to the first. Arras sent another perfect corner kick into the box and this time Farrell headed home the service to put CSUB ahead 2-1.
In the 78th minute, the Aggies were given their second penalty kick opportunity of the night and the visiting team took advantage for their second equalizer of the match.
Determined to end the game on their own terms, the `Runners continued to pressure and earned a penalty kick call of their own in the 80th minute. Fifth year `Runner Rashaad Ogun beat the Aggie keeper to put CSUB ahead for good on the way to the 3-2 victory.
CSUB will remain home to close out the weekend with a matchup slated for Saturday, Oct. 18, against Cal State Fullerton. Tickets are available ahead of time at GoRunners.com/Tickets. Skip the line, buy online!
