IRVINE, Calif. - Cal State Bakersfield’s Jacob Bernauer was named the Big West Freshman of the Week after scoring his first two collegiate goals and helping the Roadrunners to a pair of draws against UC Irvine and UC Santa Barbara.

This is Bernauer’s first career Big West weekly honor. The freshman midfielder sparked CSUB’s comeback against UC Irvine last Wednesday, scoring in the second half to level the match at 1-1.

On Saturday at UC Santa Barbara, Bernauer delivered again in the 81st minute with the equalizer that secured another road point for the `Runners. He played 74 minutes against UCI before going the full 90 against UCSB.

Bernauer’s impact has given CSUB’s valuable momentum early in conference play, as the `Runners extended their unbeaten streak with his key contributions on both ends of the pitch.
