SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Roadrunner men's soccer team opened conference play with a 1-0 shutout on the road Wednesday night in the State Capitol. Head Coach Adam Grant's squad earned a Big West victory against the Sacramento State Hornets as the battled-tested `Runners begin their league slate with an unblemished record.

After a quiet first half where both teams barely tested each other, the `Runners came out of the break hot and ready to strike. A few near misses went by, then Bakersfield finally broke through in the 62nd minute thanks to Justin Knighton's first goal as a `Runner.

Bakersfield staved off multiple chances from the home team, but Sacramento State was unable to break through as CSUB goalkeeper Zenden Hart tallied his first shutout of the season.

The `Runners will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 4, with another road trip. This time around, CSUB will head down to Northridge to take on CSUN in another Big West clash.
