STOCKTON, Calif. – The Cal State Bakersfield men’s soccer team closed out non-conference play with a 2-1 road victory against Pacific on Wednesday night. Joey Velasquez, a native of the Stockton area, delivered the game-winning goal late in the first half. CSUB goalkeeper Zenden Hart tallied five big saves as Bakersfield held off the Tigers' late push.

Bakersfield returns home to prepare for Big West play, which starts on Wednesday, Oct. 2. The `Runners will host Sacramento State at 11 a.m. as part of the team's annual Education Day, when an estimated 1,500 local students will be in attendance to cheer CSUB to victory.
