Two `Runner Pairs Earn All-Conference Honors

IRVINE, Calif. – The Big West announced the year-end Beach Volleyball All-Conference honorees and CSU Bakersfield was well represented in one of the nation's toughest leagues. For the third-straight season, two Roadrunner pairs took home honors as members of the All-Conference teams.

Earning CSUB's third-straight First Team All-Big West honors was Bakersfield's No. 3 duo of Hayley McCluskey and Isabella Almeida after the duo produced some stellar results.

McCluskey, a fifth-year senior, paired with Almeida, a true freshman, went 17-9 on the season while also posting clutch wins against top foes. The win total tied them for the second-most in CSUB history. Along the way, Almeida and McCluskey posted wins against their counterparts from universities like No. 8 Hawai'i, Boise State, Oregon, and three times against CSUN.

This year marks back-to-back-to-back seasons that the `Runners earned more than one league honor. In 2023, Sophia Hladyniuk and Emma Erteltova picked up an All-Big West Honorable Mention nod. Erteltova and Hladyniuk went 16-8 this season as CSUB's No. 2 pairing and 16-10 overall.

The `Runners enjoyed a record-breaking season including the following accomplishments and accolades:

- Individual Career Wins Leader (44, Hana Makonova)
- #5 All-Time Career Wins (39, Hayley McCluskey)

- All-Big West Honorable Mention (Emma Erteltova & Sophia Hladyniuk)
- First Team All-Big West (Isabella Almeida & Hayley McCluskey)

Head Coach Cesar Benatti continues to grow the `Runner program, which had a program-high eight student-athletes devoted only to beach volleyball. As CSUB strives to return to the AVCA Top 20 and win its first Big West title, the `Runners will look to its core values of Sisterhood, Grit, Intent, Positivity, and Mindfulness to guide the way.
