Weather Adjusts Start of CSUB Beach Volleyball Season

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Inclement weather in the forecast has disrupted the Cal State Bakersfield beach volleyball team's Opening Weekend plans. The Roadrunners were set to host the second-annual Barnes Beach Complex `Runner Invite, Feb. 24-25, but all matches were canceled on Wednesday afternoon.

With nearly two inches of rain expected in the Central Valley and reports of multiple feet of snow on the Grapevine, the decision was made to avoid travel and play in such rough conditions. CSUB will now set its eyes on opening the 2023 season next week when the `Runners will travel to Northridge, Calif. on Mar. 3-4. Bakersfield was originally scheduled to take on CSUN and Boise State on Mar. 4. Head Coach Cesar Benatti has extended the weekend by adding another pair of games in Northridge on Mar. 3 as CSUB will take on Cal State LA and Westcliff as well.

The `Runner home opener is now scheduled to be Mar. 10-11, when Bakersfield hosts UTEP, Concordia Irvine, and the Master's.
