CSUB to Host Meet & Greet for 1993 National Championship Team

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The Cal State Bakersfield men's basketball program built a certifiable dynasty during its NCAA Division II era. As we approach the 30th anniversary of one of the Roadrunners' National Championship runs, the CSUB Athletics Department is excited to welcome back and honor the 1992-93 team, which went 33-0 on an undefeated run to the title, for a Meet and Greet ceremony on Thursday, Feb. 16.

Former CSUB Head Coach Pat Douglass was instrumental in turning a strong Bakersfield program into a perennial powerhouse. Throughout CSUB's Division II era, the `Runners earned three National Championships, all with Douglass in the 1990s, while making eight Final Four appearances and 19 NCAA Tournament appearances.

The Meet and Greet on Thursday will begin at 2 p.m. at CSUB's Icardo Center. Several members of the 1992-93 team, including players and coaches, are expected to be in attendance at the event. The `Runners are especially excited to welcome back coaches Pat Douglass and Henry Clark as well as Kenny Warren, an All-American athlete who ranks second all-time in scoring at CSUB and is tied for first on the team's career assists list.

Bakersfield's returning champions will also be honored Thursday night by the Bob Elias Hall of Fame as the group is set to be inducted as part of the Hall's 2023 class.

CSUB Athletics is inviting fans to join us for the Meet and Greet on Thursday as we welcome back these `Runners. Their accomplishments 30 years ago still remain in the hearts and minds of many as they created great pride for Bakersfield and Kern County.
