Zimmer Named Big West Freshman of the Week

Irvine, Calif. – California State University, Bakersfield forward Jette Zimmer is The Big West Women's Soccer Freshman of the Week, as announced by the conference offices Monday afternoon. Zimmer scored the Roadrunner's first goal, and assisted on Anela Nigito's game winning strike, in a 3-1 win over CSUN in the team's Big West opener, Thursday.

Zimmer, a native of Beidenfleth, Germany, buried her second goal of the season from the penalty spot, pulling the 'Runners even with the Matadors in the 55^th minute and sparking Bakersfield's three-goal second half. She posted eight shot attempts in the game and added two more in a draw with Sacramento State on Sunday.

The rookie forward has started all nine games for CSUB, playing 518 minutes and sits in a tie with Karen Flores for second on the team in scoring with six points.

Zimmer is the first Roadrunner to earn Freshman of the Week honors since Jamie Ingrassia was the league's choice on Sept. 20, 2021. Ingrassia scored a pair of goals on a weekend road trip to Boise State and Idaho State to earn the accolade.

Zimmer and CSUB return to Big West play this week, traveling to UC Irvine and Cal State Fullerton for 7 p.m. kickoffs on Thursday and Sunday, respectively.
