Silver, Pair of Bronze Finishes Highlight Titan Tune Up

FULLERTON, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield wrapped up its 2022 outdoor regular season in Fullerton at the Titan Final Tune Up on Friday. An all day event, the Roadrunners took 10 athletes and had one silver and two bronze finishes across three different events.

In the 400H, Riley Slayton placed second overall and less than a second behind first – UC San Diego's Amari Jenkins. Julia Stein was just short of another third place on the day crossing the finish line fourth.

Julia Stein finished the 100H behind a pair of UCSD hurdlers on Friday. Her third-place effort led CSUB in the event. Jaztyn Greer was sixth overall in a solid performance from the freshman. Riley Slayton was second in her section and eighth overall.

Mariah LeSure was the third fastest sprinter in the 100m race. She was the second Big West finisher in the event finishing .02 seconds behind UC San Diego's Idara Ibekwe.

Hugo Santana led the group of men's throwers in hammer finishing sixth overall at the Titan Tune Up. Thomas Richardson placed seventh in the event. Matthew Garrett and Axel Salazar were ninth and tenth, respectively.

Jessi Solis rounded out the `Runners who placed in Fullerton on Friday. She was seventh in hammer throw.

Twenty-eight Roadrunners, 14 men and 14 women, will head to Davis, CA next week for the Big West Championships. For some of CSUB's athletes who opted out of the 2021 season, it'll be their first conference championships.
