CSUB Produces Several Top 5 Finishes at Cal Poly

Thomas Richardson leads the Roadrunners in San Luis Obispo with pair of Top 3 marks.

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield men and women's track and field wrapped up the Cal Poly Invitational Saturday with several highlights on the two-day competition. The Roadrunners continue to move in the right direction as the season runs on.

FRIDAY HIGHLIGHTS

Jessi Solis went third in women's hammer throw with mark 46.87m (153'09.25").

CSUB took three of the Top 5 marks in men's hammer led by Thomas Richardson's second place finish (55.41m, 181'09.5"). Hugo Santana was fourth while Matthew Garrett threw for fifth.

Jesus Alvarez and Bradley Bryant went four and five, respectively, in men's long jump. Alvarez landed ¾ of an inch behind third, Cal Poly's Hunter Matsy.

SATURDAY HIGHLIGHTS

Mariah LeSure placed second in the 100m. Her time of 12.28 was slightly edged by Cal Poly sprinter, Shelby Daniele (12.27).

Julia Stein finished fourth in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15 seconds flat.

Bianca Frausto rounded out the Top 5 in the 5000m with a season-best 18:28.98 and was the highest Big West finisher in the event.

Miranda Miller and Julianne Finch were another pair of Roadrunners who were Top 5 at the Cal Poly Invitational tying second in pole vault.

Thomas Richardson returned for another day of competition Saturday and earned a third-place finish in shot put.

"We competed well facing some challenges today," said Director of Track & Field, Cross Country Marcia Mansur-Wentworth. "I know that they will respond well looking ahead to next Thursday and Friday at the West Coast Relays hosted by Fresno State."
