FULLERTON, Calif. – The CSU Bakersfield men and women's outdoor track and field teams wrapped up the Ben Brown Invitational on Saturday. The Roadrunners added eight Top 5 finishes across six events besting host Cal State Fullerton in four.
"It was a good day," said Director of Track & Field, Cross Country, Marcia Mansur-Wentworth. "We showed some progress. We're just going to keep working hard."
Tom Richardson (15.86m, 52'0.50") and Matthew Garrett (15.62m, 51'3") each recorded personal bests good enough to place fourth and fifth, respectively, in shot put. The pair threw better than any Big West competitor from Cal State Fullerton.
Riley Slayton and Julia Stein went third and fourth Saturday in the 400-meter hurdles running season bests. Stein's time of 1:03.54 moves her up to number seven all-time at CSUB in the event. The duo outran all CSF runners.
The women's 1600 relay placed second behind Army West Point on the legs of Riley Slayton, Julia Stein, Neyda Martinez, and Jatzyn Greer. Greer was just shy of finishing Top 5 in the 100m hurdles, placing sixth in the event.
Bradley Bryant was second in triple jump at the Ben Brown Invitational going the distance of 13.67m (44'10.25") and outperforming all Big West competition in the meet.
Curt Threlkeld (400m) and Mariah LeSure (100m) each placed fourth in their respective events rounding out the Roadrunners Top 5 finishers.
