Women's Soccer Announces Spring Schedule

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The CSU Bakersfield women's soccer team announced its 2022 spring schedule on Monday afternoon. The Roadrunners will play six matches giving head coach Sebastian Vecchio time ahead of fall to play with different combinations and get an early start with his mid-year transfers.

"We are excited about the Spring schedule," stated fourth-year coach Vecchio. "Since taking over this program, we always focused on playing tough competition and this Spring is no different."

CSUB will open its spring slate on March 5 welcoming USC to the Main Soccer Field at Noon. The Trojans are coming off a NCAA Second Round appearance and finished the 2021 season with an overall record of 14-3-3. The `Runners then host CSUN at 5:00 p.m. the following weekend, March 12, before taking a few weeks off from competition.

Bakersfield will hit the road twice this spring. First traveling to Long Beach State on Friday, April 8, before closing the 2020 spring schedule on April 30 at UC Santa Barbara, who qualified for the 2021 Big West Championships finishing fourth in conference standings. First touch with The Beach is set for 6:00 p.m. while the Gauchos have set kick-off at 1:00 p.m.

The Roadrunners will host a pair of matches at the CSUB Main Soccer Field on April 23 as Arizona Western and Fresno City come to town to the `Runners and one another. Start times are still to be announced.

"It is nice to finally have a full Spring to coach our players and make the team better," added Vecchio. "We are looking forward to giving opportunities to players that want to prove themselves and earn minutes."

Admission to home contests this spring are free.
