CSUB Well-Represented on All-Big West Teams

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The Head Coaches of the Big West women's soccer teams have voted on the league's annual awards and Cal State Bakersfield's squad was well-represented among the honorees. Headlining CSUB's recognitions are a pair of veteran leaders in Cynthia Ramirez and Mya Fortun.

Ramirez, a sophomore `Runner, was selected to the Big West's First Team All-Conference honorees. The forward led Cal State Bakersfield this season with five goals and 12 points, including a pair of game-winning goals.

Fortun is a senior defender who is the only `Runner field play to play all 1,620 minutes this season. The ironwoman anchored the CSUB backline that allowed just 1.00 goals per match during Big West play. Her efforts earned Fortun a Second Team All-Conference nod.

CSUB also enjoyed recognition on the All-Freshman Team in Jaiden Gore. The redshirt freshman tallied three goals on the season, all three of which ended up being game-winning goals as her clutch gene showed out when Bakersfield needed her most.

Wrapping up the CSUB nods were a trio of `Runners who gained All-Big West Honorable Mention nods: forward Isis Salazar-Ortega, midfielder Sara Ybarra, and goalkeeper Kamy Anaya.

The `Runners will begin postseason play on Sunday with the first round of the Big West Championship. CSUB hits the road to tackle Cal State Fullerton with a goal of winning the league tournament.
