`Runners Welcome UCSD for Men's Senior Day

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Dual season continues right after the New Year for Cal State Bakersfield's men's and women's swimming and diving teams. CSUB is preparing to host UC San Diego for another MPSF dual on Monday, Jan. 2, in what will be the final home meet for three `Runner men.

Notables

The `Runners suffered their first dual losses of the season a couple weeks ago with both the men (2-1) and women (2-1) falling to UC Santa Barbara.
Despite the losses, a number of `Runners shined in that highly-competitive dual.
Bakersfield had already entered training camp before the UCSB meet and have continued to train hard through the winter break.
Junior Mikayla Popham has 42 career individual victories, which is fifth in CSUB history just behind Carlee Burks (fourth, 45, 2013-17) and Michaela Paige (third, 46, 2012-16). Popham tallied 16 wins as a freshman in 2019-20 before the team sat out the 2020-21 season due to COVID-19. Last year Popham posted 15 victories and she has earned 11 first-place finishes so far this year.
