Benatti Adds 4 Future Beach `Runners with NLI

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Four future Roadrunners signed a National Letter of Intent to compete for the CSU Bakersfield beach volleyball team this week. CSUB Head Coach Cesar Benatti excitedly welcomes Ella Ensign, Kaia Fanshier, Vivi Kaelin, and Olivia Silacci-Jensen to the program as a great start to 2023 recruiting class.

  • Named the 2021 Tacoma Fall Athlete of the Year, was third in the state in kills, and listed among Top 30 must-see players in Washington.

Kaia Fanshier
  • From Folsom, Calif.
  • Goes to Visa Del Lago High School
  • Plays in No. 1 pairing for Precision Sand club team
  • Earned first-place finishes at GNBV Showcase in Santa Monica and the Santa Cruz Open Division
  • A four-year varsity indoor volleyball starter
  • Earned League MVP in 2022 and is a three-time all-league honoree
  • Benatti on Fanshier: "Kaia is one of the most talented kids of her class. Beach Volleyball is easy for her because she controls the ball so well and she always has the best attitude. She will contribute right away to the growth of our program."
Vivi Kaelin
  • From Lake Oswego, Ore.
  • Goes to Lake Oswego High School
  • Earned First Team All-League for indoor volleyball in 2022
  • Named LOHS Athlete of the Week twice this season
  • Ranked on Prep Dig Oregon's Top Player list
  • Benatti on Kaelin: "Vivi comes from a very strong club and is also one of the most talented of her age. She will bring some great game vision and an analytical side of the game to our program. We can't wait to have her with us."
Olivia Silacci-Jensen
  • From Salinas, Calif.
  • Goes to Salinas High School
  • In final year of the FAST Academy, a three-year sports medicine college prep program at SHS
  • Won Gold at two Junior AVP tournaments and the BVCA-Club vs Club-Spiker Team Open in 2022
  • Also a four-year varsity indoor volleyball player
  • Named SHS Female Athlete of the Year in 2022
  • Benatti on Silacci-Jensen: "Olivia is a natural leader! She has been great during the recruiting process and is very committed to getting better and preparing for college. She is strong, understands the game very well, and is always up to a new challenge."
