Angelo, Lee Lead CSUB to Series Win

Bakersfield, Calif. – Roman Angelo and Jack Lee combined to allow just four-hits and one run to lead CSU Bakersfield to a 2-1 win in Sunday's finale at UC San Diego. With the win, the Roadrunners captured their third Big West series win in four attempts, improving to 14-9 overall and 11-5 in conference play.
 
Angelo struck out four and surrendered just three hits over five innings to earn the win. The Bakersfield native improved to 2-0 and the `Runners remain undefeated in his starts this season.
 
CSUB scored twice in the sixth to re-take the lead, setting the stage for four dominant innings from Lee.  The Australian earned his second save of the series striking out five and allowing just two baserunners, neither of which advanced past first base.
 
Tyler Jorgensen was 2-for-4 with a double and drove in the game winning run to cap the `Runners' sixth-inning rally.
 
Evan Berkey finished 1-for-2 with a double and a pair of walks.
 
Bakersfield will play their next eight-games at Hardt Field, beginning with a four-game conference series against CSUN, Apr. 30-Mar. 2.
 
How it Happened:
• Jackson Kritsch singled with one out in the second and came around to score on Paul Gozzo's RBI triple, giving UCSD an early 1-0 lead.
• Bakersfield grabbed all the offense it would need with a two-run sixth. The `Runners loaded the bases when Jashia Morrissey walked, Jacen Roberson was hit by pitch and Berkey reached on an error. Nick Grossman tied the game with an RBI ground out to second, before Jorgensen sliced a single through the left side to put CSUB on top 2-1.
 
Notable:
• Berkey extended his on-base and hitting streaks to 14 games.
• Jorgensen reached base for the 20th-consecutive game when he doubled to lead off the fifth.
• Lee pitched 4.1 innings in the series, striking out five and earning the first two saves of his CSUB career.  
• Bakersfield improved to 6-0 on Sunday, with all six games started by Angelo.
