Vecchio Adds David Schipper to Coaching Staff



BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Heading into his third year as Head Coach of the CSU Bakersfield women's soccer program, Sebastian Vecchio has hired a new Graduate Assistant Coach to his staff. David Schipper, who just finished two seasons with Southern United FC, has filled the open position and will work directly with the Roadrunners for the next two seasons.
 
"We are extremely excited to add David to our soccer program," said Vecchio. "His playing and coaching career will be an asset to our team and we are looking forward to sharing new ideas."
 
Schipper has an impressive resume starting with four years at University of Arizona on the men's soccer team, Premier Development League and U.S. Open Cup stints while in the offseason at Arizona, and six years of professional soccer experience around the world. 
 
"I am so excited and grateful to have the opportunity to join the CSUB women's soccer program as an assistant coach and to be able to work alongside of all the coaches, teams, University staff and student-athletes," explained Schipper. "I am committed to helping the team succeed by bringing my college and professional experience and an abundance of passion for the game."
 
The professional teams Schipper has played for include Dorados de Sinaloa, Atlante de FC of Mexico, Seattle Impact FC, York Region Shooters, Goiatuba Esporte Clube, Albatoz SC and Southern United FC. 
 
Schipper holds a Soccer Management and Scouting certificate from Sports Management Worldwide and had coaching and training experience from stints with Momentum Training Center in San Marcos, Calif., Futbol Factory in Chula Vista and Cuyamaca College.
 
"My goal is to assist the coaches with relentless work ethic," added Schipper, "and to help with the development of our players through consistency and dedication to maximize their potential and help them accomplish their goals."
 
A mixed bag, Schipper brings former professional soccer experience, academic training in sports management, familiarity with international programs and bilingual.
