Women's Soccer End-of-Year Banquet Recap



BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The CSU Bakersfield women's soccer team celebrated the outstanding accomplishments of its student-athletes with the second Awards Banquet last March.

"Our soccer banquet is a fantastic way to kick off the Spring and recognize all those accomplishments that took place during the Fall season," explained head coach Sebastian Vecchio. "It is a fun night for our student-athletes, administration, family and friends."

"It was great to see our attendance double in size in just our second year hosting the banquet," added Vecchio. "We are looking forward to opening it up to fans as well next year."

The annual event starts with a red carpet-style photo opt for those in attendance followed by a welcome from Vecchio and kind remarks from Senior Associate Athletic Director and SWA, Cindy Goodmon.
 
Dinner was catered by Hodels. Those in attendance had an option of lemon herb chicken, tri tip, create your own salad, mashers with olive oil, vegetable medley, fruit platter, desserts, and coffee, tea or water for refreshments.
 
After dinner, assistant coach Kate McArthur acknowledged support staff with a gift of appreciation from the coaching staff. Vecchio served as Master of Ceremony through the awards ceremony, highlight video and closing remarks.

"In addition to celebrating our student-athletes and everything they have accomplished," said Vecchio, "the banquet allows us to recognize our staff and CSUB personnel that work many hours behind the scene to make sure our program and student-athletes have everything they need to be successful."
 
Seniors Aryana Harvey, Gianna Bly, Sophie Freeman, Fran DelaCruz-Cabral, Anesa Sasivarevic and Kinsey Saiz were celebrated with a senior plaque, as well as, redshirt junior Keneika Jensen. Jensen was also given a framed jersey since she was not recognized on Senior Night.
 
Harvey was also honored for her second-team all-conference nod while Chelsee Duran and Jasmine Bowman were recognized for earning a spot on the all-freshman team.
Freeman and Sasivarevic, along with Caitlin Goetjen and Jordan Martinez, were awarded their certificates from the All-WAC Academic Team.

Offensive MVP: This award is voted by the team and given to the individual the players feel had the biggest impact on offense.

Iron `Runner: This award is voted by the Strength and Conditioning coach and given to the individual who they feel had the biggest impact in the weight room.
