BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The CSU Bakersfield men's soccer team will begin conference play this weekend with two matches. First, on Friday, Sept. 29 at 7 p.m. the `Runners travel to Seattle, Wash, to play Seattle U and then come home for their first Western Athletic Conference home game of the year on Sunday against Utah Valley.
The `Runners will enter conference play with a 2-5 record, but a win in Seattle is just the kind of victory that can get the season turned around quickly for CSUB and Head Coach
Richie Grant.
The `Runners were voted sixth in the 2017 Preseason Soccer Coaches poll, while Seattle U was voted to finish third and received three first place votes.  Seattle U will enter WAC play with a 6-2 record, but lost at home to Washington University on Sunday 2-0.
Utah Valley was voted to finish second in the Preseason poll and they also received three first place votes.  But they come into WAC play with a 3-5 record and the Wolverines are on a four-game losing streak, including a 2-1 loss to Sacramento State, who the `Runners defeated in overtime back on Sept. 1.
The weather forecast for Sunday is 83 and sunny, so come out to Main Soccer Field and support your `Runners, with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m.
