BAKERSFIELD, Calif. CSUB men's basketball 2016 graduate Kevin Mays has signed with Czech pro basketball team BK Nova Hut Ostrava.
Mays gradated last year and is going on to represent CSUB in his first professional basketball career under NH Ostrava head coach, Dusan Medvecky.
The 24-year-old 6'4” forward played at CSUB for two seasons following two years at Odessa Community College. During his CSUB career he was named to the WAC Defensive Team in 2015 and First -Team All-Conference and helped assist CSUB win the WAC Tournament in 2016. Mays led the Runners in rebounding (8.0), came second in scoring (12.6) and reset the school's Division I record for season field goal percentage with .518 (160-309).
BK Nova Hut Ostrava(NBL) is a Czech pro basketball club in the city of Ostrava. They play in the Czech National Basketball, the highest in Czech Republic. He joins former teammate and fellow All-WAC selection Aly Ahmed from the 2016 WAC Championship team in the professional ranks. Ahmed was drafted in the NBA D-League last month by the Sioux Falls Skyforce.
