BAKERSFIELD, Calif.—The CSU Bakersfield baseball team returns to Hardt Field this weekend for a three-game series against Wagner. Games on Friday and Saturday will begin at 6 p.m. with the finale set for Sunday at 12 p.m.
On Friday night, CSUB will give out 2015 baseball schedule magnets. On Saturday, fans can play CSUB baseball bingo. On Sunday, fans can enjoy $1 hot dogs while the first 50 kids will receive a mini baseball helmet ice cream sundae that will be redeemable in the sixth inning.
This is the first series between CSUB and Wagner in baseball. The Seahawks have not played since opening weekend when Wagner went 0-2-1 at South Florida. The Seahawks' series scheduled for last week at Elon (N.C.) was snowed out. Wagner also had a weekday game at Fordham (scheduled for Wednesday) postponed due to weather.
Anthony Godino hit .375 with two RBI's to lead Wagner during the South Florida series. On Friday night, the Seahawks will send lefty Matt Morris (0-1, 16.20 ERA) to hill to face Hayden Carter (1-1, 3.43 ERA). The middle game of the series features righty Mike Adams (0-1, 13.50 ERA) against Steven Gee (1-1, 1.45 ERA). The series concludes with Wagner's Danny Marsh (0-0, 3.18 ERA) pitching against Nick Rogowski (1-1, 6.50 ERA).
CSU Bakersfield's David Metzgar was named WAC Hitter of the Week Mar. 2. Metzgar, a sophomore infielder from Lancaster, Calif. (Paraclete HS), hit .471 on the week to lead Bakersfield to a 3-2 week, including a 3-1 mark at the Phoenix Muni Classic and a win over ninth-ranked Arizona State. He was 8-for-17 from the plate with four RBIs and four runs scored. He also picked up a double in the 7-4 win over Arizona State on Saturday and stole a base in a 6-4 win over Purdue. He was also named WAC Player of the Week by College Sports Madness.
